Science

The mission of the Our Lady of Lourdes High School Science Department is to present science as an objective and systematic observation, identification, description, experimental investigation, and theoretical explanation of natural phenomena. This paradigm is applied to all the natural sciences studied here at Our Lady of Lourdes High School:  Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Forensics, and Physics.

With proper laboratory safety techniques, the Science department will emphasize the importance of critical thinking, logical and empirical reasoning using various methods of exploration, such as observation, experimentation, comparison, and mathematical manipulation of data. Our aim is to prepare students to successfully complete all local, state, and national assessments.

The Science Department is also dedicated to the idea that science has a practical application and has to be understood in a larger cultural context. It is through inquiry that students are able to view science as an interdisciplinary study applicable to society.  The Science Department encourages students to think critically about scientific topics and their relation to current events.
