Last year, when she thought of what kind of community service project she would like to do, she immediately thought of her grandfather and other veterans that served our country. “Even though our Veterans are recognized, we can always do more. My grandfather served in Vietnam and it is important to do what we can for those men and women who, like him, served our Country,” says Anabelle.
Last year Anabelle was able to raise $1,700 in donations, which allowed her to put together 100 bags of toiletries and other necessities, 50 for men and 50 for women. This year she is engaging the Lourdes community to participate and asking for donations from the following grade levels:
Seniors - Hats
Juniors - Gloves
Sophomores - Scarfs
Freshmen - Socks
Donation boxes are in the school cafeteria through December 14th and the grade level that donates the most will earn a dress down day.
Excited for this year’s collection, Anabelle comments, “I am hopeful that students at Our Lady of Lourdes will share the spirit of Christmas and generosity with the Castle Point veterans. I look forward to providing everyone with an update on the donations as the project concludes.”
