Thanks to the hard work of the Our Lady of Lourdes participants $170 was raised for the American Heart Association. The AHA states that heart disease is the number one killer in America and has been working for more than 90 years to save lives. This organization has nationally and internationally grown to more than 33 million volunteers and supporters dedicated to improving heart health and reducing deaths.
The challenge began as a way to participate in heart health month. Each participant contributed at least $10 with half of the proceeds going the AHA and the other half going to the team with the highest average number of steps. The participants were randomly grouped into groups of three. Overall, a total of 7,814,980 steps were logged which is approximately 3,600miles, which is about the same distance from New York City to Paris!
The winning teams are:
1st: James Clement, Meghan Vilardo, Myles Weiler averaging 117,842 steps per person per week
2nd: Christa Maserjian, Jill Dennin-Philipbar, Diane Young averaging 104,872 steps per person per week
3rd: Rob Emich and Kristen Gehlhoff averaging 89,363 steps per person per week
