Dear Friends,

“The just one rejoices in the Lord, and seeks refuge in Him.”  Psalm 64:11

The Holy Season of Lent begins this Ash Wednesday.   A new Lenten Season to draw us closer to God by the three pillars of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  I was often taught by many holy priests, and religious that Lent is a time of doing, just as important as fasting and giving up things.  Daily Mass, meditation on scripture, the Stations of the Cross, the Rosary, and works of service and charity for others.

Fasting from being judgemental, gossiping, and grumpiness is just as important as Friday abstinence.  Make a point to read the spiritual masters like St. Catherine of Siena,  St. Therese the Little Flower, and St. Augustine and others….they are all easily accessible online for anyone.  Sign up for Lenten Scripture reflections to be sent to your e-mail address, and make a good confession.  The old methods never fail to bring us closer to God. “We adore you O Christ, and we praise you! Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.!”

Have a Blessed and Holy Lent!

P.S. Please offer a prayer for my special intention.  One Hail Mary would be great!”

Yours in Christ,

Father Thomas Lutz
