According to the 2020 National Merit® Scholarship Program, Theodore is amongst approximately 16,000 Semifinalists across the country who were notified that they had qualified. He will now submit an application for Finalist consideration and compete for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth about $31 million to be offered next spring. This application will include details on his leadership and extracurricular activities, academic record, school recommendations, and a personal essay.

NMSC, a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program.  Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 410 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.

 

Over he past three consecutive years, Lourdes has boasted over six National Merit semi-finalists who all went on to achieve finalist status. In 2017 Lourdes’ Valedictorian Andrew Lam earned the most prestigious recognition in this national competition as a National Merit Scholarship winner.
