Mrs. Heinsman’s career began after achieving an Associates degree in Science, Humanities, and Music, and it was after raising her family and teaching piano privately that she returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education 7-12 English and M.S. in Education Secondary Education 7-12 English from SUNY New Paltz.

In her years at Lourdes, Jane has taught most grade levels and in recent years has primarily focused on 9th grade. She comments, “I would always look forward to helping these new students as they entered Our Lady of Lourdes, together with the challenge of teaching them to work at the high school level. My goals were always that my students enjoy English and learn how useful it is to their lives.”

Mrs. Merryman shared her response to Mrs. Heinsman from back in February when the announcement was made commenting, “I received your letter yesterday indicating that you have decided to retire at the end of this school year. Though I know it certainly is time for you to move into a phase of life where you can set your own schedule, spend more time with family, and perhaps explore all the books and places that working full time prohibits us from doing… I was surprised. Our Lady of Lourdes High School will miss you. I want you to know that I have come to see you as a staple of the Lourdes community. You are the foundation for our freshmen English students who sets clear and challenging academic expectations for a Lourdean. Through your quiet and kind demeanor, you have always been an example of charity and fortitude. I consider it a privilege to have been your colleague and I have learned valuable lessons from you. Thank you Jane for your dedication to excellence in Catholic education. For your dependability, adaptability, professionalism, and for your consistent and genuine witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in both word and deed.”

In closing, Mrs. Heinsman remarks, “I am looking forward to having more time with my husband Ray and our family (particularly our five grandchildren) and friends. I also will enjoy spending time playing the piano, reading, and even cleaning my home! I will especially miss my students, fellow teachers, administration, and staff! Our Lady of Lourdes is a great school, and I wish it all the success it so richly deserves!  God bless!”

May God continue to bless you Jane and your growing family. Our Lady of Lourdes High School will miss you!
