The formal announcement was made by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) on Monday, July 6, 2020.

Michael earned this honor in March with his 3rd place finish in the 500 free with the
All-American consideration time of 4:30.32 at the NY state Swim Championships in Nassau County Aquatics Center. He also was a medalist with a 6th place finish in the 200 Free with a 1:40.88 time in trials.

“Michael really stepped it up this season,” comments Coach Tom Bubel.  “With an extraordinary work ethic, Michael went from barely qualifying for states his junior year to swimming an All-American winning time of 4:30 in the 500 free which is also the 25th fastest time in the New York State high school championships history. Hard work doesn’t always pay off but it does set you up for success. It obviously paid huge dividends for Michael.”
