The Our Lady of Lourdes Wrestling Team had a very successful day this past Saturday, Feb.12th at the Section One, Division 2 Championships held at Hendrick Hudson High School.
Both Jackson Wainwright and Charles Batista won an individual championship in their weight class.
Jackson, a senior at Lourdes who has competed in wrestling for his entire high school career, took first place in the 126 weight and was named the lightweight Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament.
Charles Batista won section champion in the 285 weight division. A junior at Lourdes, Charles also was voted the “Champion of Champions” at sectionals.
Both wrestlers will advance to the state championship tournament and represent the Section 1 team!
The team finished 5th overall
