Marist College: B.S. Biology/Minor in Anthropology
Marist College: M.Ed. Secondary Biology Education
Mrs. Cuccia is an alumna of Our Lady of Lourdes Class of 2008, and a New York State certified teacher. This is her seventh year at Our Lady of Lourdes, where she began after completing her undergraduate and master’s degrees at Marist College.
Mrs. Cuccia teaches AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, and General Environmental Science. Her hope is to instill interest in the natural world and a love of learning through laboratory activities, field investigations, and inquiry-based projects. She views summer as an opportunity for professional growth and spent the past summer at a workshop focused on how to teach gene editing with CRISPR through molecular models.
Mrs. Cuccia is the National Honor Society advisor and co-moderates Science Club with Mr. Chapman. Each fall she raises trout from eggs to fry as part of the Trout in the Classroom program, which stocks the Hudson tributaries with fish. She also participates in the DEC’s American Eel citizen science research each spring with any students who are interested in doing volunteer ecological fieldwork at Hunter’s Brook in Wappinger Falls.
