Brother George grew up on Long Island.  A year after graduating from Chaminade High School he joined the Society of Mary (Marianists) and then professed his first vows in 1975.  In 1977 he began teaching at Chaminade.  He has been teaching history and religion in high schools ever since, including twenty-six years at Chaminade on Long Island, ten years at Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory in Florida, and most recently, six years at John A. Coleman Catholic High School in Kingston.  Bro. George came to Our Lady of Lourdes in 2019 and serves as a School Chaplain and United States history teacher.

Bro. George’s favorite quotation comes from Frederick Buechner, an author, and theologian: “The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”  Bro. George writes, “I can honestly say that my life has been filled with joy as a Marianist Brother in living in a religious community and as a teacher of high school students.  I hope that while experiencing ‘my deep gladness’ I have also filled some of the ‘world’s deep hunger’ by teaching and encouraging so many wonderful young men and women during such formative years in their lives.”
