A Message From the Nominee

My Lourdes experience and Catholic Education have prepared me for the future by showing me that working hard can help you reach your goals, and by helping me figure out my priorities in life, with Faith at the center. I am glad I attended Lourdes because of the relationships I have built with my friends and teachers and because of the great opportunities and challenges that Lourdes presented me with. My favorite memory from Lourdes is the senior night during my last year of swimming. Our senior meet was against Beacon who had more than double the number of swimmers and were an overall better team. Everybody would need to swim an all-time career-best to beat this powerhouse of a team. And that’s exactly what we did. Nearly everyone on the team got new personal records in that meet. Personally, I dropped about 15 seconds off of my 200 IM. In addition to this, in the 100 Breaststroke, I beat my opponent by three-one hundredths of a second and claimed my one and only third-place finish in my swimming career. The overall team spirit and atmosphere of the meet are the reasons why this is my favorite memory from Lourdes.

To a student who is thinking about attending Lourdes, I would say that High School is not a place to be afraid of because you will find friends and there are so many people who want to help you out. Aside from that, I would also advise them to take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves, because they could be very rewarding in the future.
