The 2024-2025 school year is Mr. Labrenz’s 3rd year as a faculty member in the Mathematics department at Our Lady of Lourdes High School. He is currently teaching NYS Common Core Algebra 2, AP Calculus, AP Computer Science Principles, and College Calculus through Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh. It is Mr. Labrenz’s hope that by studying mathematics and analyzing real-life scenarios in the classroom, his students can apply these practices in their daily lives to become effective problem-solvers and critical thinkers.
Mr. Labrenz graduated from Marist College with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts in economics, along with minors in business administration and accounting. Mr. Labrenz is currently a graduate student, working towards his Master’s degree in mathematics education and special education at the University of Mount Saint Vincent. During his time as an undergraduate student, Mr. Labrenz was able to obtain internships at industry-leading companies such as Pepsi Cola of the Hudson Valley, KPMG, The Walt Disney Company, Morgan Stanley, and Central Hudson. As an educator, Mr. Labrenz enjoys actively participating in professional development opportunities. During the summer of 2023, Mr. Labrenz spent a week in Florida at an AP Summer Institute for Calculus teachers across the country. This past summer, Mr. Labrenz attended the AP Annual Conference hosted by the College Board in Las Vegas, NV.
Outside of his teaching duties, Mr. Labrenz is the head coach of the JV boys soccer team, the head coach of the Varsity boys tennis team, and the co-moderator of the Lourdes math team. He holds a National D coaching license for U.S. Soccer.
