The National Honor Society has been established to recognize outstanding high school students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Students eligible for the National Honor Society will have a cumulative average of 90 and will be invited during the first quarter.

NHS Requirements by Grade Level

As a sophomore, there are no volunteer requirements - but students can start keeping track of volunteer and service projects they are involved in. Eligible students should expect an invitation to the National Honor Society in the fall of their junior year.

As a junior, students must complete 20 total volunteer hours (some may come from sophomore year). There is no leadership hour requirement. Students must participate in at least one project/event organized by the NHS - the Blood Drive is an example. These hours must be completed by April.

As a senior, students must complete 30 total volunteer hours- at least five of those hours must be leadership. Students must participate in at least one project/event organized by the NHS- the Blood Drive is an example. Whether a student was inducted in their junior year or is anticipating induction as a senior, the requirements for service hours are the same. These hours must be completed by April.
